Translate posts and comments with Bix

Bix translation helps you read posts, comments and Cuts captions in another language. You choose when to translate and can switch between translated and original text.

Where to find it: Avatar menu > Settings > Content > Posts > Bix translation; translation row > gear

How to

  1. Open Settings from the avatar menu, enter Content and then Posts.
  2. In Bix translation, choose Post language. Without a chosen target, translation follows the reading language set by the app.
  3. Under Translate posts in other languages, choose Automatically, Ask first or Never.
  4. To exclude a language from automatic translation, open the gear in the translation row of a post in that language and turn off Automatically translate for it.
  5. On the post, use Translate with Bix when offered. Then use Show original or Show Bix translation to switch.

What the three modes mean

  • Automatically requests eligible translations without tapping each post. Excluded languages and text already in the target language keep their original.
  • Ask first keeps the original until you request translation on the post.
  • Never turns off requests through the translation preference. Change the mode again to resume translating.
  • Excluding a language controls automatic translation of that language. This choice does not block posts or people.

Originals, plans and data

  • Translation is a reading preference. The author retains the original text, and others may use a different reading language.
  • Translation does not require Gold and does not spend public mention or chat allowances. It may be temporarily unavailable even when you have Bix access.
  • Text is processed through Google Vertex AI. Links, mentions, hashtags and Catalog references receive protection to preserve those elements in translation.
  • Translations may be reused and stored by Lobbix+. Turning the mode off changes your preference; it does not delete the post or request deletion of existing translations.

If translation is missing or seems wrong

  • Check that the target differs from the text language, that the mode is enabled and that the source language was not excluded from automatic translation.
  • On Couldn’t translate, tap to retry. If it still fails, read Show original and try later.
  • Slang, wordplay, names and context may be translated incorrectly. Compare with the original before replying or sharing.
  • Preferences also affect eligible comments and Cuts captions. A caption without translatable text does not gain a translation because you enabled the mode.
